Venezuela Launches Multiple Entry E-Visa With Faster 15-Day Processing

by awbtravelsnews | April 11, 2026

Travelling to Venezuela may soon become simpler. The government has introduced a new electronic visa system for tourists and business travellers, replacing the traditional process that required in-person embassy visits.

The move signals a shift toward digital immigration procedures, making it easier for visitors to apply and receive approval without visiting a consulate.

Venezuela Moves Tourist and Business Visas Online

Foreign nationals applying for a Venezuela tourist visa or business visa must now complete the application online. Once approved, the visa is issued electronically and sent directly by email.

Travellers simply need to print the e-visa and show it to immigration officials when arriving in Venezuela. There is no longer a need for a physical visa sticker in the passport.

Previously, applicants had to attend interviews at Venezuelan consulates and wait for the visa stamp to be added manually.

Faster Processing Time: Around 15 Days

One of the biggest changes is the shorter processing time. The electronic visa is expected to be processed in about 15 days, compared to the earlier timeline of up to six weeks.

For travellers planning business trips, meetings, or holidays, this makes last-minute planning slightly more manageable.

Visa Fee Likely to Increase

While the final fee has not yet been officially confirmed, the expected cost for a Venezuelan tourist or business visa is around USD 180.

Previously, applicants paid about USD 60, meaning the new digital process could come with a higher price tag.

Validity and Entry Rules Remain the Same

Despite the digital shift, most visa rules remain unchanged:

Travellers can continue using the visa for short stays such as meetings, conferences, or leisure trips.

Why Venezuela Introduced an E-Visa System

The change comes as part of a broader effort to modernise administrative procedures and reduce paperwork through digital processes.

Electronic visas are becoming more common worldwide, as governments aim to make travel procedures faster and more efficient while maintaining security checks.

For travellers, the main benefit is clear: fewer embassy visits, faster decisions, and a simpler application experience.

What This Means for Travellers

If you are planning a trip to Venezuela, the process is now more straightforward:

While the higher fee may be a drawback, the reduced paperwork and quicker turnaround could make the process easier overall.

For frequent travellers and business visitors, this change removes one of the biggest hurdles in planning a trip to Venezuela.
