In order to provide at-risk international students and PhD candidates getting ready for the 2026 application cycle with a safe academic pathway, Technische Universität Darmstadt has confirmed its participation in the -managed Hilde Domin Programme. With the help of this program, TU Darmstadt will be able to propose qualified applicants from all over the world who are facing serious risks to their right to an education, allowing them to start or finish a master’s or doctoral degree in Germany beginning in the summer of 2027.

TU Darmstadt, or Technische Universität Darmstadt, is a public research university located in the German city of Darmstadt. It was established in 1877, and in 1899 it was granted the authority to grant doctorates. The university received a global ranking of 246 in the QS World University Rankings of 2024, placing it as the 15th best university in the country. Financial Benefits:

Nominees who are accepted into this program are given substantial financial assistance so they can devote all of their attention to their studies or research in Germany.
A monthly stipend of €992 is given to master’s students and €1,300 to doctoral candidates.
Depending on the academic program and progress, the funding period typically lasts up to 24 months for master’s degrees and up to 48 months for doctoral studies.
Second degrees are not eligible for financing because the program only supports first-time master’s or PhD degrees.

Eligibility Criteria:

International master’s and PhD applicants from any nation who face real risks to their safety, freedom, or access to education at home are welcome to apply for the program.
Candidates must clearly demonstrate or provide a convincing justification for a threat to one’s safety or right to an education.
- Applicants must possess the educational credentials necessary to be admitted to a German university
- Applicants must be able to successfully finish the planned study or research project
- Applicants must not be residents of the EU or Germany at the time of nomination
- Applicants must not have missed more than six years of school since their last enrollment.
- Applicants must provide evidence of their language proficiency in either English or German, depending on the language of the program.
To be eligible for this assistance, the challenges must be caused by one or more of the factors stated.
- Students with a history of refugee status.
- Students who have a chronic disease and/or a disability (at least GdB 50).
- Students who encounter unique difficulties in their daily lives as students because of their gender identification.
- Students who are in charge of looking after children or family members who require care.
