Applicants must find and collaborate with a mentor at a university in a Commonwealth nation other than their home country as part of the studentship. This person should be an authority in a field related to the applicant’s research topic, capable of offering guidance and assistance during the studentship. Throughout the studentship, the mentor is expected to meet with the student virtually at least twice. Through email correspondence, they will be expected to share their experiences in their profession, offer guidance on publications, events, and trends in their industry, and encourage and enable the student to think in novel ways.
By investigating policy, governance, history, development, and international collaboration among Commonwealth nations, the studentships are intended to assist up-and-coming scholars in broadening their scholarly influence. In addition to funding, chosen scholars will receive mentorship support and publication exposure to raise their profile in academia and research around the world. Since there are only two extremely selected awards given out annually, candidates who want to situate their research in a Commonwealth setting are strongly advised to get ready early and find mentors beforehand.
