Pakistan’s power industry has grown remarkably fast; in just 15 years, its generating capacity has more than doubled. However, this quick expansion has revealed serious flaws in system operations, planning, and the incorporation of renewable energy sources. Simultaneously, the worldwide push for climate action is putting further pressure on organizations, companies, and communities to adjust. The human infrastructure needed to address these issues is still lacking. Talent that can bridge the gap between technical know-how, financial analysis, and policy insight and turn them into practical solutions is needed in Pakistan’s energy transition.
The Margalla School on Energy and Climate (MSEC), supported by Renewables First, was established to fill this void. Our fellowship program integrates leadership development, policy analysis, and systems thinking with technical training. Through projects, mentoring, and hands-on placement in the energy ecosystem, fellows do more than just acquire knowledge—they put it to use. To spearhead this shift, MSEC creates a broad talent pipeline that combines engineers, economists, and social scientists to address real-world problems.
