A special chance to join one of Europe’s top policy research environments has been made available through the opening of the prestigious CATS Fellowships for the 2026–2027 academic year at the Centre for Applied Turkey Studies (CATS) at Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik (SWP), the German Institute for International and Security Affairs in Berlin. This fellowship enables scholars to conduct rigorous, policy-relevant research to help bridge understanding and enlighten decision-makers in light of growing regional uncertainty and divergent EU-Turkey objectives.

CATS serves as the curator of the CATS Network and is based at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP) in Berlin. CATS delivers information to the public and media and advises political decision-makers in Germany and Europe based on its research. Applications are also welcome from researchers with a strong track record of studying Turkey but without a PhD. Researchers from the SWP and CATS will be able to work together with the chosen CATS fellows. Research findings may be published as peer-reviewed SWP and CATS articles. German and/or English are the working languages. Must check Japan Youth Summit 2026 in Osaka (Funded).
