Cambodia Replaces Passport Stamps With Digital v-Pass for Travellers

by awbtravelsnews | September 13, 2025

Cambodia has quietly stepped into the digital era of border control. Over the last few years, the country has rolled out online tools like the e-Visa and e-Arrival form, making it easier for travellers to prepare before a trip. Now, it has introduced something bigger: the v-Pass.

What is the Cambodia v-Pass?

Since July 1, 2025, the v-Pass has been in place at all international airports and seaports. It replaces the old-fashioned entry and exit stamps in passports, along with the QR sticker once issued on arrival.

The v-Pass is automatically created after you pass through immigration. Instead of a stamp, travellers get a digital document by email, inside the Cambodia e-Arrival app, or via the official site arrival.gov.kh.

The v-Pass document is now the official proof of entry and stay in Cambodia, so you’ll need to keep it handy throughout your trip.

How the v-Pass Works

On Arrival: Show your passport and visa to an immigration officer upon arrival; your entry is digitally recorded.

During Your Stay: During your stay in the country, you may be asked to present your v-Pass at checkpoints, digital or printed versions are both welcome.

On Departure: When it’s time to leave, present your passport to immigration as usual. Your exit is logged digitally, no more exit stamps required.

Why Cambodia Made the Switch

Authorities say the system improves both security and efficiency. It reduces paperwork, speeds up queues at immigration, and helps travelers avoid the hassle of tracking passport stamps. The v-Pass also gives Cambodia a modern, paperless system that aligns with the broader shift toward digital border management seen in other countries.

What Travelers Should Remember

Final Thoughts

From e-Visas to the smooth launch of the v-Pass, Cambodia is quickly becoming a regional leader in easy, tech-driven travel experiences. For travellers who want efficiency and dislike paperwork, these changes provide real benefits. They promise a fast, secure, and modern way to explore the country.
