Travellers who were unable to leave the UAE because of regional flight disruptions have been given another chance to sort out their immigration status without facing penalties.

The UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) has announced a 30-day grace period running from June 10 to July 9, 2026. Eligible individuals can either regularise their stay or leave the country without incurring overstay fines.

Who Can Benefit?

The relief applies to people who previously received an exemption from overstay penalties after airspace closures and flight suspensions prevented them from departing the UAE earlier this year.

This includes certain visa holders, exit permit holders, and residents whose visas had been cancelled but who became stranded due to travel disruptions that began on February 28, 2026.

No Extra Applications Required

The ICP says affected individuals do not need to complete any additional procedures to access the grace period. Those wishing to stay can apply to change their residency or employment status. Travellers planning to leave can depart through normal immigration channels before July 9.

According to the ICP, the emergency conditions that led to the original waiver no longer exist, with regional travel operations largely returning to normal.

The latest move gives affected residents and visitors a final window to comply with immigration rules before penalties resume.
