Peking University Boya Postdoctoral Fellowship 2026 for International Students:
Applications are invited to apply for the Peking University Boya Postdoctoral Fellowship 2026 in China. All International candidates are welcome to apply for the Postdoctoral fellowship. Up to 380 postdoctoral fellowships will be offered to highly qualified, early-career postdoctoral researchers. Each Fellowship lasts 24 months. The Boya Postdoctoral Fellowship, established in 2016, intends to attract promising young talent from around the world to undertake postdoctoral research and pursue academic excellence at Peking University in Beijing, China. It offers young researchers chances to conduct research in a variety of academic subjects, including natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, economics and business, computer technology and engineering, and interdisciplinary studies.
Peking University, founded as the Imperial University of Peking in 1898, was China’s first national comprehensive university. It is the country’s highest educational authority at the time. Since the establishment of the People’s Republic of China in 1949, it has grown into a comprehensive university that provides essential instruction and research in both humanities and sciences. Financial Benefits:
Peking University Boya Postdoctoral Fellowship 2026 in China will cover the following expenses:
- The Fellowship package includes
- an annual pre-tax income of 200,000 RMB,
- social insurance,
- housing allowances, and
- other incentives.
- Postdocs who do not have access to postdoctoral housing can get a 60,000 RMB stipend.
- Furthermore, Postdoctoral Supervisors at Peking University may give
- an additional subsidy (30,000 RMB, 60,000 RMB, or 90,000 RMB per year) based on the
- applicant’s academic potential,
- quality, and
- overall performance.
Documents Required:
- Endorsement letter from the prospective postdoctoral supervisor at Peking University
- Two Letters of Recommendation (The candidate’s academic integrity should be carefully addressed by the applicant’s doctorate advisor.)
Eligibility Criteria:
To apply for Peking University Boya Postdoctoral Fellowship, applicants needs to fulfil the following requirements:
- The fellowship is available to exceptional researchers of all nationalities who are under 35 and have earned their PhD within the last three years.
- Peking University registered postdocs may apply for the fellowship if their contract’s start and end dates do not exceed six months, as indicated by the start dates in the related call for applications below.
- Senior research posts at Peking University’s postdoctoral track are open to postdocs with two years of postdoctoral research experience.
- The selection process is based on the
- applicant’s educational background,
- academic standing,
- the caliber of the proposed research project,
- the strength of the recommendations,
- the dedication of the postdoctoral supervisor at Peking University, and
- a convincing demonstration of the expected synergy between the proposed research project and the host institution.
- A great research proposal should explain how the project will make use of and profit from Peking University’s special resources and research skills.

The last date to apply for the Peking University Boya Postdoctoral Fellowship in China for international students is below:
- Round One: February 28, 2025
- Round Two: October 10, 2025
How to Apply for the Peking University Boya Postdoctoral Fellowship?
- Candidates must select a faculty member from Peking University to serve as their postdoctoral supervisor and obtain formal approval from them as part of the application procedure.
- For the 2025 academic year, the fellowship program will award up to 380 awards over two selection rounds.
- Typically, no more than 230 fellowships will be awarded in the first round, and roughly 150 fellowships will be available in the second.
- Ph.D. applicants who plan to finish their degrees in 2025 are eligible to apply for the first round.
- Candidates who expect to receive their Ph.D. by July 1, 2026, are eligible to apply for the second round.
- Please combine all of the application materials into a single PDF file and send it by email to the appropriate coordinator (see the tables below) connected to the postdoctoral supervisor’s Peking University department, institute, center, or school. Applications that are not complete will not be processed.
