The UNESCO Youth Hackathon 2025 will be held this year in Colombia. These obstacles include the emergence of artificial intelligence (AI), the spread of misinformation, online hate speech, platform domination, and risks to information integrity. In 2024, UNESCO will welcome 202 teams in Indonesia. Winners will be invited to the UNESCO Youth Hackathon, which is part of the Global MIL Week Conference and will take place in Cartagena, Colombia, on October 23-24, 2025, with UNESCO covering the cost of airfare and accommodations.
UNESCO’s Global Media and Information Literacy (MIL) Week features the Youth Hackathon as a centerpiece event that equips youth around the world to address pressing issues in the current digital information environment. These include the advancement of artificial intelligence, the propagation of misinformation and deception, online hate speech, platform domination, and risks to information integrity.
Under this year’s theme, Youth Leading the Way: Building MIL Solutions for Impact, UNESCO encourages young people aged 18 to 30 to collaborate, create, and take the initiative. All competitors will receive free online coaching from worldwide experts prior to the final submission. Must check UWC Mastercard Foundation Scholarship 2026 in South Africa (Fully Funded).
