The NIAS Fellowship is offered by the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities and Social Sciences. The NIAS Safe Haven Fellowship is a program for scholars, artists, authors, and journalists who cannot work safely in their own country. This is typically due to war, strife, or other forms of oppression. The Safe Haven Fellowship provides temporary relocation, allowing them to continue their work without danger.
The NIAS Safe Fellowship helps at-risk scholars. The Fellowship is meant for scholars, artists, authors, and journalists who are unable to continue their work in their current location or circumstances due to the effects of conflict or warfare. The Safe Haven Fellowship Programme aims to protect scholars whose work is limited or obstructed by state or non-state actors by providing temporary relocation and allowing them to continue working. Those who are experiencing severe restrictions on their academic freedoms as a result of conflict or war are also encouraged to apply. NIAS does not accept applicants from institutions that are boycotted by the Dutch government. Must check KUT Special Scholarship Program 2026 in Japan (Fully Funded).
