Indian passport holders travelling to Thailand should double-check their paperwork before boarding. The Embassy of India has issued a fresh travel advisory reminding visitors to carry the right documents and meet entry requirements to avoid delays at immigration.
The advisory comes as Thailand continues to attract large numbers of Indian tourists under its visa-friendly entry policies. With direct flights operating from cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Ahmedabad, Thailand remains one of the easiest international getaways for Indian travellers. That also means immigration officers are paying closer attention to documentation.

What Indian Travellers Should Carry
As per the advisory issued by the Embassy of India, before flying to Thailand, all Indian visitors should ensure they have:
- A passport valid for at least six months from the date of arrival.
- Confirmed return or onward flight tickets.
- Confirmed hotel bookings.
- A clear travel itinerary.
- A completed Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC), which must be submitted within 72 hours before arrival.
- The appropriate visa, where required, based on the purpose of travel.
- At least THB 20,000 in cash per passenger if entering under Thailand’s visa waiver or Visa on Arrival provisions.
- All supporting documents readily available for inspection at the immigration counter.
Extra Advice for Groups and Transit Passengers
The Indian Embassy has also warned that travellers arriving in groups should not rely on one person carrying everyone’s documents. Each traveller should keep their own passport, bookings, tickets and supporting papers.
Passengers transiting through Thailand should also carry all documents required for their final destination, including visas where applicable.
Job Offers? Don’t Use Tourist Entry
The advisory also makes one point very clear. Travellers who already have a job offer in Thailand should not enter using the visa waiver scheme or Visa-on-Arrival. They should instead obtain the correct visa before travelling.
This reflects a wider trend across Asia, where immigration authorities are becoming more selective about verifying the purpose of travel, even for visitors from visa-exempt countries.
Why This Matters
Thailand remains one of the most accessible overseas destinations for Indians, but easy entry should not be mistaken for relaxed immigration checks. Missing documents, an incomplete TDAC, or an inability to show proof of funds can still lead to questioning or even refusal of entry.
Take
We think this is practical advice every Indian traveller should follow. A few minutes spent organising documents before departure can save hours of stress and reduce the risk of immigration problems in Thailand.
